BIRTHDAY WISH

For a friend of mine, I pray this
Same day each year, I say this
May glory be in her home?
And happiness in life
May peace be her property?
And she gets joy in her strife
Life is such a movie it makes everyone act
And may she be a big hit
And success keeps her life intact
May she have a smile?
Not just for some moments but every while
This is just another wish, my dear friend
From the tiny heart of mine, I had some words lend
And here is the wish I just send

DEAD END

Unknown is my destiny and so is my path
Unknown is where I walk smile and wrath

But each step I take and every while
I know for sure, I want to see your smile

Coz that makes me take the next one
so to relish a moment of my life
and then I need another one
to relish that each step is worth in strife

But, then a thought struck,
a painful one to convey
to miss u a day, would such be my luck
I wish not, I dearly pray

Coz that would be the day where I would end
In tears, and walk with you to heaven

M (1931) - GERMAN

It was great then, but is it so now? I really doubt

Sure it had one of the finest acting in the climax, but 80 years later and having seen many movies that had superb acting in climaxes like Few Good Men being one, this falls short. Also, it comes as a tad silly than what it truly was, like a Monster being searched extraneously and at the end is found out by a girl and is marked M on his shirt which he cannot rub and erase. Oh, this one thing bothered me a lot. Also, at the end when this man is supposed to be brutally punished for what he has done, he brings up a case of his own that he too deserves a chance. Fine then, what was the whole point of the film is what I had thought.

Intriguing with suspense as to what is going to happen for the first half, it falls flat as per the expectations the film arose in me. Oh, he even hides in a place where he is very easily caught. Damn, was it for this man that the whole of police found, it's like making mockery of police searches which was an innovative thing as long as in 30's.

Fritz Lang who was than considered a great director if had seen the film now, would not have liked it as it is too very obvious at many places. He did a good job just to throw it off at the end is what I firmly believe. Yet, this a good film for what it does is make us sit and watch with a hope that something great or something gruesome is going to happen. Nothing of that sort though happens but we are relived by superb acting and great production design and oh, yes good music that for a film in 1930's is a great sign.

Its is by no means bad, yet it does not become a great film as per me. It is just average as it did not reach what I have really expected it to be. A 2/5 for a movie by Lang that is more or less social message oriented and is filled with suspense that rises to a peak just to fall flat later.

FINDING NEMO (2003) - ENGLISH

I watched it again in 3D and its simply still great.

You need to change anything to make the best more perfect, what this film does is simply that. This is a great movie and the re release has just added technology and left it intact. I hope many have watched it when it was first released in 2003 and considered it to be by far the best animated movie till then. Yes, I strongly believe this is the best animated movie just next to Monsters Inc. and the best father son story that is so very cutely told.

A cowardly father has lost his son and in turn to get him back he gives up his own cowardice and swims across the length and breadth of the ocean to reach him. It is dramatic, comical and even romantic. When the blue tank fish Dory seems to be losing her love interest Marlon, she turns back to him and says "When I look at you, I feel like I am home" that is enough to melt any man's heart and so it did touch mine too, not just once but any number of times I watched it.

PIXAR was already making great animation movies but with this one it just set the standards too high for itself that since this most films of PIXAR have touched those standards.

This being an animation movie needs simply great animation detailing which PIXAR did so very beautifully, never will you fill as if out of place, it's seriously one of the most colorful films. It brings alive the whole Ocean and lets us swim all across it.

Kudos to Andrew Stanton and the whole PIXAR team for having given us one of the best gifts and bonding us back with those emotions. And thanks a lot again for doing it in 3D and re releasing and giving us an experience to watch it in theaters again.

It's a definite 5/5 for one of the best animated movies ever. Please take your kids along if they haven’t seen it and you can for sure go through the ride again and it's overwhelmingly enjoyable again and again and again. Please watch it in theaters in 3D. It's not worth missing beautiful cinema.

SECRET OF CREATION

In wonderment, I was thinking
About what brought me to an existence
And to know that, I was willing
For which I resolved with perseverance
To go through the past
To comprehend what had transpired
Was it an erosion or was it a blast?
And who was it that had aspired,
The creation of the universe?
With difficulty, I read
Many a time, many a verse
From which I made out the thread
That there's one common notion
That love is the secret of creation

GANGS OF WASSEYPUR (2012) - HINDI

A revenge saga that makes us yearn for more.

This was released on June 22nd and its sequel was out on Aug 8th, in the meanwhile I had a tough time to sit back and wait, coz the end climax made me wait and see what is going to happen next. its taken forward by the protagonist Sardar Khan and we move forward with him. This film is for sure an epic just coz the scale is too grand to weave a script. It spans across 60 decades from 1941 to 2004. It starts at 2004 in beginning and ends in mid 1990's and there are many references o show us the age. If radio was heard or Trishul being seen in cinemas or to Kyu Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu This is authentic and great many kudos to Rajeew Ravi the cinematographer and the production design of Wasiq Khan who brought alive the 1970's the 80's and yes even the 40's. Just an aberration here Trishul was released in 1979 while it was shown to be as 1989.

Music was raw and pleasant and even philosophical like song of Ik Bagal Main, to a silly yet hilarious song like I am Hunter, Sneha Khanwalkar adds a voice to the already interestig script. The audiography is good and so is the voice of Piyush Mishra as he says the back story behind what was happening on screen.

But the most interesting of all is the script itself that is driven by Sardar Khan played by Manoj Bajpai and by Ramadhir Singh played by Tigamanshu Dhulia, its their rivalry and how they deal with this. So instead of killing simply each other, they decide to tell and take

"Keh Ke loonga Uski"

The dialogues are witty and the violence is gruesome. All in all, its a gory depicition of a true incidents told entertainigly. Kudos to Anurag Kashyap the pioneer of great Indian Cinema for making it in this way.

There is a scene in which Sardar Khan tries to open the door by smashing with his legs and hands and screaing while his aide simply opens the bolt and says "Yeh aise khulta hai" such moments are what made this revenge drama witty and hirlaious. It's sarcastic one may say as it makes a mockery too of few things, yet it's not cynical but intelligent.

Manoj Bajpai might well win many Best Actor awards or atleast be nominated to many.  Anurag Kashyap for sure is the best director yet again and I hope he wins the elusive best director award at least this time.

A 4/5 for movie that is made like an epic. There are many characters still there is a connect that keeps us glued even in a repeat watch.

ANOTHER DAY OF LONELINESS

So many lonely so many alone
Few by choice but most by force
Some have just been done
Some went thru a divorce

Some have no reason to convey
Some have seldom words to say
Some found it tough to stay
Some failed as others betray

How to live in longing
While days just prolonging
And I in such questions
End another day of loneliness

WHAT IS THIS?

What is breath what is a death
What is darkness what is light
If not for the perception of self

What are lies and what is the truth
What is chaos and what is Ruth
If not for our own imagination

What is to take and what to make
What are doing for self and for other's sake
If it's for the heart that is unfelt, unseen

What is a dream and what is being awake
What is real and what is fake
If today's dream is tomorrows reality

****Inspired from the Akali Rajyam song "O MAHATMA"

MOTORCYCLE DIARIES (2004) - SPANISH

The diaries are surely worth reading. The journey is worth taking.

Two friends embark on a journey to know what their continent is like and what it is being out of their country and they discover not just themselves but a purpose of their own existence.

“I have something to think hard and long. So much injustice eh?” The last dialogue of the movie by Ernesto Che Guevara is what this movie culminates into.

Based on diaries of two friends, Che and Alberto, this movie is a realisation of reality they have encountered and now they have to fight against injustice.

This film has many emotions and feelings and puts them well together. From being humorous at times and being thoughtful the next, it sways all through the journey and by the end left me with a satisfying feeling. Now, I watched it fifth time and since first time time while in my college days till this day, neither my feeling or my way of looking at things in outside world changed yet it struck me each time with a quest for a change. It's a simple journey that is not dramatised to the extent of a proper climax that will make us see an edge of seat drama or makes us wait for something that's going to happen. Though, nothing of that sort happens, it ends with an apt note of a simple realization by a character and its the characters Ernesto Che Guevara and Alberto Granado who drove the movie.

There are glimpses of romances though by Alberto mostly as he flirts with women and Che for once with his grilfriend, this is a romantic movie of a different kind, this is of two men who are love with their passion to explore. They beg, borrow but do not do any illegal thing of stealing money and yet make it thru the destination though longer than they intended, and longer was the journey the better got the situations.

To simply say this movie is about the realisation of the greatest revolutionary fondly called 'Che' might well be an understatement. This is the transformation of a man from a selfish aimless love deprived being to a selfish revolutionary and more selfish for his passion to change what was existing, compassion to may be termed selfish as per this movie coz when wounds heal for those patients these two men have happiness in their eyes.
To bring about a revolution one needs to be utterly selfish that he needs change at any cost.

Cinematography is great and so was art direction. Special mention to music by Gustavo Santaolalla, its apt and I just love the way a bit called "Apertura" was composed. Music echoed their feelings in this.

I will go with 4/5 for a journey that's a must watch not just because it is historically important for all those who are interested in knowing CHE, but it is about understanding what we value this live for. It's not preachy and that's the beauty it just conveys what it needs to subtly.

MAN, FLOWER, DEW

When the sun rises and flowers blossom
The dewdrops fade in the heat shade
Each man wakes, as a day is ready to be made

He wakes with a hope to sleep again in peace
And for today, the world would be a better place
He tries to do his best to pass a day of life’s test

As the sun rises high and flowers take the heat
Without squabbles, he passes the time
Squandering moments at his own pace

The sun now lowers and fade shall the flowers
The light goes away and night creeps
He too ends his days and sleeps

While the buds get ready to face next day’s light
And new drops are born at night
The man lays in wait of tomorrow dreaming it would be bright

DEW DROP

Dew drop on the hibiscus flower, was shot in Macro. Taken at my home, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, INDIA.

ALONE IN SLUMBER

Alone in slumber, I did feel
Holding your palms hearing your qualms
That made the dream all the more real
Wish they were a lie, all your qualms

And yet not so, I did wish though
Coz they make you bring close
To my heart, so you can know
My eyes whispers that say ‘only you I chose’

In this world of vanity
That has lost its glory
And thrives just on insanity
And every cooked up story

Alone, I did feel in the slumber
Holding my mellowed pillow
That you are my arms under
While I smile and say poetry in a flow

BLOSSOM OF A HIBISCUS

This was taken as it just blossomed at my home. Taken at Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India.

GANGS OF WASSEYPUR 2 (2012) - HINDI

He said, he would take it and so Anurag Kashyap did.

"Keh Ke Loonga bole toh, kya toh bhi samjhaa, par koi aisa leta hai kya?"

Hail Anurag Kashyap as the best filmmaker in India currently and time and again he is proving himself with mind boggling and just awesome films. Yet again, he does it in his own way just that this one is a sequel to an existing masterpiece that is directed by him. I doesn't matter you have seen the first part of this film or not, it doesn't matter whether you have any idea of Wasseypur and its people or not, what matters is when I watched, I was absorbed into characters and what is going to happen next. Yes, I knew the end and just wanted to see how it unfolds, and it sure did when I did not expect it, I expected to happen earlier or never, but it did happen at a point that was held back for so long.

Performances are just apt and all superlatives just apply for this wonderful ensemble cast. But above all, Nawazuddin Siddiqui shines as Faizal Khan and Zeishan Quadri (who also is the scriptwriter of this revenge epic) blossoms as Definite.

There is lot of humour, its not sarcastic or slapstick but realistic, from names such as Tangent, Perpendicular and Definite, to scenes such as asking for permission to make love, to asking what is the real name of Definite, its filled with humour that is subtle yet raw and creating impact.

But this is a revenge drama that has lot of violence and bloodshed so make it a point and ensure you must sit and bear their agony and pain and after a while, it make become as if you are watching it happen live and not in film.

Rajeev Ravi seems to be the magician with the camera yet again, (I must repeat the word 'yet again' a million times in this review for most of the things are already done superbly and they have just repeated it) and brings alive the flavour and milieu of Wasseypur.

Editing, oh its 2 hours and 40 minutes and combined with prequel becomes 5 hours 20 minutes, yet all of that entertains so thats what make this movie special. Let me not draw any comparison and fizzle out what is really one of the most interesting films made this year or in recent years.

Sneha Khanwalkar's music adds something thats spicy and sweet to the tone of the film and makes it just perfect. But it's Anurag who makes the use of such music that makes it altogether special. I loved the way a song "Kaala" was used.

Hail Anurag Kashyap as the 'Silver Lightning in dark clouds of Bollywood' and he comes again and again and again with great films that make us go for a repeat watch.

My favourite scene is the one in which Faizal Khan gifts Mohsina the pager as a gift. Shot in slow mo, from the way he gets down his jeep and walks into Mohsina's house, its just so enigmatic and stood out for me above all else. Nawazuddin for sure is gonna win awards as the Best Actor or Best Supporting Actor and he must for sure compete with his baap 'Manoj Bajpai'

A 4/5 for a movie that can be hailed as the one of the best Gang war movies made, the other best one is the prequel 'Gangs of Wasseypur' itself.

LUCID LINES OF LIFE - MY BOOK

I am Bharadwaj Duggaraju, and I have published my poems in the form of book "LUCID LINES OF LIFE" with a pen name Brad Dugg.

I request you all; please go through the link "LUCID LINES OF LIFE" on Flipkart.

Thank all of you, who have been a part of my life. Learned a lot and this is the tiniest gift I can offer back.
GLIMPSE OF THE BOOK

Preface
These ‘Poems’ like I would call them, are the word form of my thoughts, feelings, and perceptions of what I see, observe and understand from the daily life and incidents that once happened and remained with me thereafter. Some of them reflect my imagination about a particular person/situation that has provoked a serious thought, and some that have given recurring pain to my heart. Other few echo a universal feeling. Putting all these impressions of my life into expressions is an attempt to capture and create a memory script. Each of these writings has come from deep layers of my heart, thus all very precious to me. On a day when life comes as a reflection, holding & looking at this work will give me contentment that I could feel and record some earnest moments of my emotions and life.
I am a bystander in this world and a keen observant named Bharadwaj Duggaraju (thus the pen name Brad Dugg) and I like to celebrate life by being myself.

Below are 5 of the many poems you shall find in the book.

SOLDIER AND HIS DAD

The valiant soldier's valor has gone in vain
The pious priest's prayer has left him pain
For, the priest has lost his only child
That's the soldier who fought in the wild

He went into the forest to fight the foes
Took it as his duty and had no woes
While his dad kept himself locked in the church
The prayer of his dad "do not leave my son in the lurch"

He fought with each foe in sight
For he did not want to lose the fight
He just brought to death as many as he could
And never gave it up which as a soldier, he should

Then came a bullet which struck his chest
But he still stood tall to see the end
Of the man, who is making him rest
He shot him and said "Goodbye friend"

The news came to the priest
From the army men "We lost our brother"
The patriot then rose from the priest who said
"Never mourn the death of a soldier
Because it questions the courage of the master"

LULLABY SCENE

Giving a pat on her child's back
she stands in the moonlight
she renders a lullaby to get him a nap
that made the dull night so bright

Singing the solo in such a voice
that makes surroundings rejoice

She is not a nightingale
She is a night angel
She has come to give her baby some sleep
With a tune that takes him into frills too deep
I ask myself whether I ever got such a chance
As I see great beauty in life's this little nuance

There came a bee to perturb him
she swayed it away with her touch on that tiny nose
So that nothing can disturb him
and now I too remember that I got this lullaby dose
as he is my brother
and yes, she is my mother.

WISH AND LIVE FOR

Just a lifetime's dance, a little romance
A chance to admire your every nuance
This is what I wish and live for

Just a tender kiss, even a moment's bliss
Hugging you in my arms to say 'yes miss'
This is what I wish and live for

Just a lot more to say and lot long to stay
In this way and sway in songs of gay which say
This is what I wish and live for.

TRAGIC REPORT

After all the tragedy,
Life is back to normal
The father who took his son to morning walks
Now walks alone and rarely talks
The mother who sang lullabies to make her child sleep
Wanders lonely giving a pat on an empty bosom
Showering tears of pain too deep
Brother, who held his sibling's hand every time
Now does it as if it’s an act of mime
Sister, who was happy feeding parents,
Now cooks for them but with laments
For they have lost their eyes
And she, she laughs and has just cries
While on the first anniversary
The newspaper reports
‘Life is back to normal’,
Making the pain merely formal

ABOUT MANY

Few have done something substantial
And many live for the sake of it
Few have truly achieved their potential
And many try for the sake of it
The world is a mess, under a lot of stress
As cloth is under a hot press
Many still strive and just thrive
To fulfill their wants, the world has given
Want of money, want of gold
Earning these, they just get old
And freeze one day in the cold

laqab = title
mauquuf = dependent
charkh-e-falak = seventh heaven
hayaat = life
be-laqab = without a title
